The following is a description of station faults on an Enercon surface treating system.
| Symptom, Fault |
| Symptom |
High rate of electrode failure. The electrodes are failing within a short time after they are installed. |
| Fault |
Electrode failure is caused by mechanical shock, or most likely insufficient air flow amounts required to cool the electrode. |
| |
|
| Solutions |
- Ensure the electrodes are not failing as a result of a physical contact from the web or a splice passing through the station.
- Verify the exhaust air passages in the electrode support tube are clear and free of obstruction.
- Measure the total air flow and the static pressure drop at the exhaust plenum for the station.
- The air flow should be about 100cfm per KW (i.e. 10KW=1000cfm).
- The exhaust plenum should have a static pressure of 10" w.c.
