Illuminated Temp Light

Symptom

The power supply front panel has the "temp" illuminated, and the power supply cannot be started.

Fault

The thermal switch mounted on the device heat sink has tripped preventing the operation of the power supply in an over-temperature condition.

Solution

  1. Check the air cooling path to ensure no obstructions are present.
  2. Verify the cooling fan located at the bottom of the heat sink is operating.
  3. Check the wiring from the control board to the sensor. Ensure the connections are tight.
  4. The thermal switch is designed to automatically reset. If the temperature of the heat sink is not in excess of 90 degrees Celsius (194 degrees Fahrenheit), the switch may be defective. Replace the switch. (Item 15)
