  • Checking for failed Bridge Rectifier, Chopper Transistor and Inverter Transistor
  • Any "Zero" ohm reading will constitute a bad Semi-Conductor
  • Meter Required: Standard Analog VOM OR DVOM with Diode Test

 
First: Bridge Rectifier
   Meter Hook Up  VOM

 DVOM
(Diode Test)
 A to C  (+)A/(-)C, (-)D&(+)E  Open  Open
 A to D  (-)A/(+)C, (+)D&(+)E  ~10 Ohms  0.4V
 then  (+)B/(-)C, (-)D&(+)E  ~10 Ohms  0.4V
 A to E  (-)B/(+)C, (+)D&(+)E  Open  Open
(+) Positive Meter Lead
(-) Negative Meter Lead

 


Second: Chopper & Inverter
 Meter Hook Up  VOM
(RX1 Scale)
 DVOM
(Diode Test)
(+)A to (-)B  Open  Open
(-)A to (+)B  ~20 Ohms  0.4V
(+)A to (-)C  ~20 Ohms  0.4V
(-)A to (+)C  Open  Open
(+)B to (-)C  ~40 Ohms  0.8V
(-)B to (+)C  Open  Open
(+)D to (-)E*  Slight Deflection, Then Open  Open
(+)G to (-)F*  Slight Deflection, Then Open  Open

(+) Positive Meter Lead
(-) Negative Meter Lead
*Use Highest Resistance Scale and Measure with Gate Leads Disconnected
