Tips for checking induction seals

How do I know if I have a proper seal?

Due to the wide variety of sealing materials available, particular adhesion properties will have to be determined by the customer. Generally, proper sealing can usually be determined by the following questions:

  • Cool Down - Was the seal completely cool before removing the cap (approximately 1 minute)?
  • Over Heating - Are there any signs of scorching or melting on the inside of the cap?
  • Did the Styrofoam backing melt (single piece liners only)?
Do the pull tabs release easily?
  • Under Heating - Did the foil melt the top of the bottle?
  • Does the wax release from the cap properly (no swirl marks or cloudy residue in the center of the foil)?
  • Proper Heating - Did the foil seal completely around the lip:
  • Are the requirements of a proper seal met?
  • Will the seal stand the force of being dropped with the cap off? (non-breakable containers only)
  • Does the seal leak after being dropped? (Many times the foil will break before the seal does.)
  • If used for easy-peal (not tamper evident), can it be removed without leaving a foil ring?
