Surface Treating Overview

Polymer surfaces have chemically inert and non-porous surfaces with low surface tensions causing them to be non-receptive to bonding with substrates, printing inks, coatings, and adhesives. Enercon's surface treating systems for webs and three-dimensional objects increase surface energy to promote adhesion for printing, coating, laminating, converting, and extruding applications.

Web surface treatment is most effective when a substrate is treated at the time of extrusion and in-line prior to converting. Surface treating increases quality and productivity through improved print quality, faster press speeds and less scrap.

Enercon offers four types of surface treating technologies; corona, atmospheric plasma, flame and ozone. For a free chart that provides a general comparison of corona, flame and atmospheric plasma contact us and you'll have a copy shortly.

For web applications, systems range in size from narrow (10"), to wide and ultrawide (10 meters and beyond). Web surface treating systems are comprised of a power supply and treater station. Treating stations for webs consist of an electrode assembly and ground-roll paired for optimal productivity.

3D treating systems rely on high performance power supplies coupled with a treatment head which focuses and distributes air and flame plasma surface treatment.

Enercon power generators and stations are designed to operate in a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C (104°F) @ 80% relative humidity, non-condensing.
